A chemical peel is an exfoliating treatment during which an acid solution is applied to the skin. Unlike dermaplaning, that only exfoliates the surface of the skin, the chemical peel treatment works at a deeper level, penetrating the skin and treating it from inside. Often, after the treatment , the skin ‘flakes off’ for a couple of days before revealing newer, healthier looking skin beneath the surface. Chemical peels are useful for improving the appearance of the skin and conditions like hyperpigmentation, fine lines, sun damage, acne scars and age spots. Just make sure to avoid direct sun exposure after the treatment and SPF is a must!
